Your company can use the Companies House Webfiling service to submit your company accounts online. The webfiling service is to service companies registered with Companies House in the United Kingdom.
You would require your company authentication code in order to file accounts using the webfiling service. Basically the authentication code is the electronic equivalent of signature of your company director and secretary. For this purpose if you have lost your authentication code you may request it again from Companies House.
The webfiling service accept the following types of company accounts.
- Dormant Accounts.
- micro-entity accounts
- small company audit exempt abbreviated accounts.
Dormant accounts
To clarify you can file dormant account your company must not have significant transactions during the accounting period.
Abbreviated accounts
The web filing service would accept your company Abbreviated accounts for accounting periods up to 01 January 2016. Do not prepare abbreviated accounts after that date, because the abbreviated accounts were abolished and replaced with Abridged accounts.
Medium sized or large company accounts
For any other types of accounts not listed above, you may use an accounting software that comes online filing function.
Companies House provides a list of accounts software tested by them that comes with the function to submit company accounts online to them.
