Use of Wales or Welsh at the start of your company name

If you wish to use Wales or Welsh at the start of your proposed name or ‘of Wales’ anywhere in the name, you will need to demonstrate that your company is pre-eminent or very substantial in its sector.

In this circumstance, you should also provide the views or supporting evidence from an independent source, such as a trade association or other private or public body you work with.

Your company’s registered office must be in Wales.

In the case of a business name, the principal place of business must be in Wales. You must confirm your principal business address in your application letter.

Use of Wales or Welsh is not the first word in your company name

If this word is not the first word in your proposed company name it will normally be allowed if the company’s registered office is in Wales.

How to register a company?
