Businesses in Westminster Go Green

Businesses in Westminster Go Green to build a greener city in London. Concise is proud to be in Westminster. One of the ways to do this is to manage your businesses commercial waste and work cooperatively with Westminster City council.

Westminster Go Green by recycling

Businesses in Westminster are encouraged to recycle as much as possible. In our regent street office building, there is a dedicated area for recyclable commercial waste and general waste. Different colour waste bags are introduced for general and recyclable waste for easy identification by the waste collectors.

According to Westminster, 60% of our waste can be recycled. If you and me take part to actively recycle at home and at work, this will reduce the amount of waste going to the landfills.

If you walk along the Regent street and its surrounding streets, you would see many recycle bins back to back with the general waste bins along the streets. It is very convenient for the public to recycle waste on the go.

The law protecting the environment

There is also a law to ensure businesses dispose of their waste correctly in Westminster. Section 47 Notice Environmental Protection Act 1990 outline the responsibilities businesses in Westminster must follow when presenting their waste on the public highway especially if you are disposing of your commercial and general waste by putting them on the streets for collection. You are advised to read about the Bags off streets (BOS) waste collection rules.

In brief, you must remove your waste bags from the street if your waste was not collected or missed the collection time for the day. It is also nice for visitors to enjoy and take photos of the beautiful streets in Westminster without the waste bags in the background.

If you failed to comply, your business may be issued with a Notice of Intended Prosecution. I am sure you do not want this. You have another option if you do not want to be prosecuted that is you pay a fixed penalty. I am also sure you do not want this also.

Lets work together to support Businesses in Westminster Go Green project. After all, we all benefits from clean environment.
